Privacy Policy of the Korean Society of Surgical Metabolism and Nutrition (KSSMN)

AThe Korean Society of Surgical Metabolism and Nutrition (hereinafter referred to as “the Society”) values your personal information and complies with the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.

Through this Privacy Policy, the Society informs you of the purpose and manner in which your personal information is collected, used, and protected, as well as the measures taken to ensure your data security.
If the Society revises this Privacy Policy, such changes will be announced through the website notice (or individual notice, if necessary).

This policy has been effective since February 1, 2011.

1. Items of Personal Information Collected

The Society collects the following personal information for purposes such as membership registration, inquiries, and service applications:

  • Items collected: Name, date of birth, gender, login ID, password, password question and answer, home telephone number, home address, mobile phone number, e-mail address, occupation, company name, department, company telephone number, and resident registration number.
  • Method of collection: Through the website (membership registration and pre-registration).

2. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Society utilizes the collected personal information for the following purposes:

  • Fulfillment of contracts and service provision
    • ㆍ To provide requested services and process related payments
    • ㆍ To deliver content and membership benefits
  • Membership management
    • ㆍ To verify identity, confirm membership status, and manage user access to member-only services

3. Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

The Society will destroy personal information without delay once the purpose of its collection and use has been fulfilled, unless otherwise required by law.

4. Procedures and Methods for the Destruction of Personal Information

The Society destroys personal information without delay once its intended purpose has been achieved.

  • Destruction procedure:
    • ㆍ Information entered by members for purposes such as registration will be transferred to a separate database (or a separate storage cabinet in the case of paper documents) after the purpose has been achieved, and retained for a certain period according to internal policies and relevant laws.
      Personal information transferred to a separate database will not be used for any purpose other than that specified by law.
  • Destruction method:
    • ㆍ Personal information stored in electronic file format will be deleted using technical methods that prevent recovery of the data.

5. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Society does not provide users’ personal information to external parties without consent.
However, exceptions apply in the following cases:

  • When the user has given prior consent
  • When required by law or upon lawful request from investigative authorities under relevant procedures

6. Outsourcing of Personal Information Processing

The Society does not outsource the handling of personal information without the user’s consent.
If outsourcing becomes necessary, the Society will notify members of the outsourcing party and the scope of work, and obtain consent where required.

7. Rights of Users and Legal Representatives, and How to Exercise Them

Users and legal representatives may at any time view, modify, or delete their registered personal information, or withdraw consent for membership.
To view or modify information, click “Edit Profile (or Modify Member Information),” and to withdraw membership (revoke consent), click “Withdraw Membership.”
You may also contact the Personal Information Protection Officer in writing, by phone, or via email, and appropriate action will be taken without delay.

If you request correction of an error in your personal information, the Society will not use or provide the information until the correction is completed.
If incorrect information has already been shared with third parties, the Society will promptly notify them to make the necessary corrections.

Personal information deleted or withdrawn at the request of a user or legal representative will be processed in accordance with the “Retention and Use Period of Personal Information” clause and will not be used or accessed for any other purpose.

8. Installation and Operation of Automatic Data Collection Devices

The Society does not use cookies or similar automatic data collection technologies when you use its online services.
